Project Planning Methodology, Project Manager

Description

The Project Planning Methodology provides a common approach to planning when ever a plan needs to be created or updated.  This process directly supports these other processes:

The following steps are used to produce the required plans:

  • Defining and Analysing Work Products
  • Identifying Activities and Dependencies
  • Estimating Duration and Resource
  • Scheduling Work
  • Preparing the Cost Forecast
  • Analysing Risks
  • Completing a Plan

These steps are used with product based planning to ensure that all of the required products are planned and resources are available.  A life cycle process can replace the need for Product Based Planning and the Product Flow Diagram.  The Life Cycle Process is identified in the Project Quality Plan (PQP).

Audit Criteria

  • Product Checklist reflects the PBS or Life Cycle Process
  • Project Activities reflect the PFD or Life Cycle Process
  • Work Product Descriptions are available for all Products on the Checklist
  • Skills and Competencies identified for resources required for the project.
  • Quality Reviews are Planned
  • Project Risks have been evaluated
  • Project Text is available
  • Work Packages defined
