Evaluate Capability and Capacity, People Manager
Description
After the Team Operating Plan has been approved, the plan is used to manage the capability and capacity of the people in the organisation.
The key areas to watch are:
- Changes in Skill requirements
- New technology or products
- Changes in the economic climate
The capability represents the competence required (skills, knowledge, and experience) of the people necessary to carry out the mission and objectives of the team. The capacity is the measure of how much of each of the skills, knowledge and experience is required or available.
The people manager uses current forecasts for projects and work to revise the demand for people against the supply of people. Any gaps will be identified and addressed within the planning constraints.
The People Manager also balances the plan against a mix of permanent and temporary people. This mix influences the cost basis for team. The people manager may manage a recovery cost target for the organisation.
