Description
When assignments cannot be filled using available resources or specific skills or capabilities are not available within the organisation, people may
be recruited and selected either on a permanent or temporary basis. The guidance for permanent or temporary recruitment and selection is found in the capability and capacity plan.
Procedures for the recruitment and selection of people are identified in the Procedures section below.
For individuals working in the organisation, this process also includes:
- Induction Training (Including, Management System, Health and Safety and Security)
- Establishing Initial Individual Objectives and Development Plan
- Finalising the Employment contract and ensuring that plans reflect the requirements of the contract

Procedure to Recruit and Select People
- Prepare Requisition form to track the recruitment process
- Prepare the Personnel Requirements form to identify the type of person required
- Prepare an initial Job Definition describing the Job and Key objectives
- Obtain Authorisation to Proceed from the appropriate individuals
- Publish or advertise the opening if required
- Interview the candidates
- Ensure that internal candidates are given an opportunity to apply.
- Select the most appropriate person based upon their competency (skills, knowledge and experience) to carry out the job.
- Prepare the Personnel Information Form
- Finalise the Job Definition
- Prepare individual Objectives for the people selected
- Prepare the Development Plan
- Create the Personnel File
- Ensure that the requisition is closed.
- Update the budget and planning information for the team
