Description

There are many processes where critical decision points are reached and informed decisions need to be made.  This activity steps the 'decision maker through a series of steps to ensure that the:

  • Decision to be taken is understood
  • Approach to making the decision is identified and selected
  • Criteria are clear and will lead to an appropriate outcome
  • Sufficient alternatives have been identified
  • Final decision is agreed based upon the criteria

  • Criteria are documented
  • Alternatives are documented
  • Each alternative has been evaluated
  • Choice and outcome are documented
  • Quality Review held to confirm the decision if required.

Identification and Selection of the approach

The current set of forms (PMGT_FRM016) represents the default process to be used if no other process has been specified.  Alternative approaches must be reviewed by the Quality Manager (or Manager of the Engineering Process Group) prior to using the process on a project.  The alternative process will be referenced from the Project's Defined Process or the Project Quality Plan.
