Description
Test specifications and procedures are prepared to both verify that the product has been developed according to the specifications and that the product is validated to be fit for purpose in it's intended environment.
Verification specifications include integration, system, and initial acceptance testing.
Validation testing tends to include parallel running, beta testing, piloting, etc. This testing focuses on as close to live environment that can be provided.
The same test specifications and test procedures can be used as both verification and validation tests.
Records of test results are produced as a result of the test.
Tests may be fully automated or manual depending upon the requirements and project needs.
Audit Criteria
- Test Specifications, and procedures are prepared according to the functional and design specifications.
- Formal reviews are held to confirm that the test specification and procedures have sufficient coverage and depth to remove defects.
