Closing a Project, Project Manager
Description
Closing a project provides an orderly close to the project whether it ends successfully or prematurely. The Project ManagerDay to Day Management of the Project - appointed by Corporate / Programme Management. performs the following steps to complete this process:
- Prepare Planned Closure
- Prepare Premature Closure (if necessary)
- Hand over products
- Evaluate the Project
- Recommend Project Closure
This process is performed near the end of the last stage of the project. (This PRINCE2® process is not a stage - however, there may be a management stage defined to close the project where the project is large and de-commissioning may take some time.)
Audit Criteria
- Resources have been released
- Project Plan updated
- User Acceptance Records signed off
- Operational / Support Acceptance received
- Follow-on Action Recommendations Prepared
- Lessons Report ready for review
- End Project Report ready for review
- Benefits Review Plan updated
- Project File Archived (Configuration Item Records, Products)
- Project Closure Notification Issued
